R.O.L.A. (Radio Operador Largo Alcance)
This course is not mandatory for obtaining the degree. It is totally voluntary. The course has a minimum duration of 16h and of these at least 12h will be done with simulators. Once this course is completed, it should not be done for higher courses. The agenda for this will be as follows:

- Knowledge and ability to use the radio equipment of a ship
- Procedures for the operation of the GMDSS and detailed practical use of GMDSS subsystems and equipment
- Procedures for the operation and regulation of radiotelephone communications
- Module on the maritime mobile-satellite service on ships not subject to mandatory equipment
