Navigation License WITHOUT EXAM for € 70

All included: 2h theory + 4h practices + issuance title / administrative expenses.

The Navigation License allows the operation of boats (motor and sail) up to 6 m in length and jet skis without power limit, with boating power approved by the manufacturer, as well as daytime sailing provided boats do not surpass a distance of two nautical miles from the coast. Jet skis of class C without power limit.

The license requires a two-hour theoretical preparation as well as a 4-hour safety and navigation practice in an authorized boat of the “El Pirata” Nautical School to carry out practices in the Olympic Port of Barcelona.

If you have the Titulín or Federative Authorization it will only be necessary to do the 4 hours of navigation practices in the “El Pirata” Nautical School to obtain the Navigation License.

The approved safety and navigation practices will be carried out in the Olympic Port of Barcelona in an authorized boat.

Practices will have last 4 hours covering the following material:
  • 1. Security and checks before going out to sea. Knowledge and handling of safety material, review of the critical points of the boat and pre-departure checks.
  • 2. Engines. Identification of the elements of the propulsion installation. Engine start and operation checks.
  • 3. Cordage Use of basic heads and knots.
  • 4. Manoeuvres. Manoeuvres in dock, dock and undocking. Security speed
  • 5. Anchoring, monitoring and control of the defeat. Manoeuvre anchor and rotate anchor. Precautions with swimmers and divers.
  • 6. Security manoeuvres

Depending on the weather conditions, some flexibility may be provided in the scheduling and completion of the practices.
Evaluation of the practices: The instructor will evaluate the capacity of the examinee according to the following points, and will be able to suspend the student if any of the following requirements are not met.
  • Punctuality and assistance (less than 95% attendance is not allowed)
  • Compliance to school regulations
  • Active participation and close attention to the training by the student

Requirements for practices on the boat
En función de la época y las condiciones meteorológicas el alumno deberá llevar ropa adecuada.
  • The student's footwear must be of white or neutral rubber sole.
  • It is recommended to use sunscreen, hat and sunglasses.

School regulations for conducting practices
Nautical schools are obliged to notify the Generalitat of Catalonia several days before the radio and all navigation practices on the number of attendees. For this reason, it is necessary to notify the school 4 days in advance of one’s participation, and make the payment.
Once the nautical school has notified the Generalitat, registration can no longer be changed unless it is due to demonstrable force majeure*. If a student does not show up, they cannot be evaluated and the practice will not be recognized. Failure of a registered student to attend will also prevent other interested students from participating, as the nautical school cannot sell the reserved placement.
  • Be over 18 or 16 years of age with parental authorization.
  • Prove the successful completion of a medical exam performed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the regulations.
  • Accreditation  of basic practices mandatory safety and navigation practices (only if you do not possess the "titulín ").
